Nestled in the village of Aberford, West Yorkshire, the Parish Church of St Ricarius is an Anglican church with a rich history dating back to the 12th century. Its Norman tower survives from the medieval period, while most of the church was rebuilt in 1861 by Anthony Salvin. Constructed from magnesian limestone with a slate roof, the church features a nave with north and south aisles, a chancel, and a south porch, along with ornate Victorian interiors including stained-glass windows, a stone baptismal font, and decorative carvings by Mawer & Ingle. The churchyard contains the historic market cross, and archaeological finds suggest Anglo-Saxon origins, highlighting its long-standing role in the spiritual and social life of Aberford.
